Things to do in the local area

Local Shooting / Fishing

The Grey Hound welcomes all shoot parties and fishermen.

Golf

There are several beautiful courses in the New Forest which offer picturesque scenery whilst you tee off amongst contrasting woodland or open heath. Well known golf courses in the area include: The Forest at Bramshaw (the oldest in Hampshire) and set amongst the beautiful scenery of the New Forest. This course is both wooded and heath with far reaching views across the south coast. The newer course at Bramshaw Manor – which shares the same clubhouse as ‘The Forest’ provides a contrasting course. Dunwood Manor - close to the New Forest itself has undergone recent changes to improve its course. The New Forest is another countryside New Forest heath course.  Travelling further south across the forest is Brokenhurst Manor which dates back to 1919 and is again a pretty forest/parkland course. There is also the relatively new South Winchester course which was developed during the early 1990s and is open all year round. Finally the Royal Winchester is a more traditional parkland type course first built in 1888 close to the city of Winchester.
